Ellie Goulding 'Your Song'

Current obsession

Picture of the Day

Being in a new environment and meeting new people is always an interesting experience. At least for me, I always find myself slightly shy and more reserved than I normally am with people I know. I mean, I think that's how it is with most people, but maybe not...maybe I'm just crazy and have social anxiety disorder out the wazoo and I'm just in denial. Anywho, disorder or not, I have come across something numerous times now and it always irritates me.

My age is ALWAYS against me, first of all. "How old are you?...NINETEEN?? Awww you're such a baby!" Really? I'm like three years younger than you, you sodding tosser. It's not like I'm a toddler riding around on my Barbie roller skates...although that does sound kind of fun.

Now, this is the part that bothers me. Inevitably with MOST people, drugs come up. "So, you smoke?" Nope. "Drink?" Nope. "Awwww you're such a good girl! (with that tone...you know the one)" No...I'm just not an idiot and I don't waste my time getting wasted and high all the time. It's called having a life and actually doing productive things.

I mean, look--I don't give a fluttering flit what you do or what you put in your body or what craziness you partake in. That's your business and I don't judge you from that. But don't act like you're better than me or wiser then me or more experienced or worldly than me because you smoke pot and party. That pretty much makes no sense.

Kthanksbye.

Hurray for Pretty Dresses!

Huzzah!!! The SAG Awards came around and oh so nicely gave me a new parade of gorgeous evening gowns to drool over! White, nude and peach tones seemed to definitely be the trend, but there were a few pops of color.

Here are my favorite gowns of the evening:

Once again, January Jones is my favorite. She seriously just cannot go wrong. I'm pretty damn sure even if she just wore a tarp draped over her, I'd still vote her as best dressed. This Carolina Herrera gown is spectacular, but even more so on her. It's a big contrast from her daringly revealing dress at the Golden Globes. It's modest and reserved, but still SO sexy with the gilded lace detailing. She looked absolutely stunning.

Nicole Kidman was definitely a tie for my favorite. This Nina Ricci dress is amazing. The back is the best part, though. It's so innocent looking with the lace and ruffles and the bow on the back, but it's still very sexy. It is the perfect balance of sweet and sexy and sophisticated. She looked gorgeous and so adorable with her hubby.

My favorite siren, Christina Hendrix, was rockin' it in this L'Wren Scott gown. The robe-like dress did wonders for her curvatious bod. And her fiery hair was the perfect accessory.

I LOVED Jayma May's Jenny Packham gown. I don't know what I love about it the most: The embellished draped sleeve, the beautiful asymmetrical cut above her leg, the soft peach color or how lovely the dress flows. It is a really gorgeous gown.

Eva was a total bombshell in this Georges Hobeika gown. She totally knows how to dress her petite body. This simple, white gown showed off her adorable figure and she looked amazing.

Annette Bening's jeweled Tony Ward dress was unbelievable. Seriously, I totally fell in love with it. It is SO elegant and beautiful and classy. I love everything about it.

Amy Adams looked ravishingly sleek and clean in this Herve Leroux gown. It is simple, but with a lot of intricate detailing. I really liked it.

Mama to me, Natalie Portman, looked dazzling in her Azzaro gown. Also a simple, white gown, but beautifully minimal. And it showed off her growing bump so nicely.

I'm not a big fan of Kim Kardashian at all, but I must admit, she looked gorgeous in this Marchesa gown. The color is SO beautiful and I love all the embellishing.

Aye aye aye!! Sofia Vergara was MUY CALIENTE in this colbalt Roberto Cavalli gown. Seriously, I can't get over how rockin' her Spanish bod is. She is zesty to the max.

Heather Morris was glowing in this delicate Romona Keveza gown.

Hilary Swank looked gorgeous in this Versace gown. I loved the cut of it.

I really liked Mila in this Alexander McQueen dress. I thought it went so well with her exotic kind of beauty.

I really loved Winona Ryder's Alberta Ferretti dress. I know it kind of borders on bridal...but I think it's couture enough to work on the red carpet. Plus, she paired it with black accessories, which took it away from fairy bridal.

Tina was rocking this ruby Oscar de la Renta floral gown.

Lea Michele was stunning in a glitzy, deep V gown by Oscar de la Renta. So simple, but so awesome.

I adored Rosario Dawson's J. Mendel cream gown. I really loved the layers of the skirt that let her leg pop out ever so sexily.

Claire Danes was simple and stunning in this floral Louis Vuitton gown.

I though Kate Mara's dress was really awesome. It was totally unique and the construction really intrigued me.

Adorable...and kind of creepy. But mostly adorable....I think.

I Love The 90's!!

TOTAL 90's throwback!! I LOVED this song when I was little! For some reason I am totally gaga for 90's music right now. I'm making a playlist of my favorite 90's songs right now.

So I'm feeling like a misandrist, feminist biatch. Sue me.

Givency Spring 2011 Couture

Riccardo Tisci is always surprising me every season with his collections for Givenchy. Honestly, I've never been a huge fan of how he represents Givenchy, but I have enjoyed some of his collections. But when Fall 2010 came, that all changed. Tisci's Fall 2010 collection for Givenchy is one of the most stunning, intricate and absolutely beautiful collections I have ever seen.

When I first saw his Spring 2011 collection, I almost thought I was looking at his fall 2010 collection again. This collection definitely has undeniable similarities to the Fall collection, but many differences. Tisci's new obsession is Japan, and it totally shows in this collection.

This collection is SO breathtaking. I mean, where do I even begin? Once again, Trisci's intricacies and acute attention to detail have left me in awe. I love how he has managed to make such structured, intricate dresses still seem so light and airy.

At first, I didn't like the neon appliques on all the dresses. I'm still not TOO crazy about the neon..I don't know. I just feel like it is SUCH a contrast to the delicate whites and creams of the rest of the dresses. But the detail and skill it took to make the appliques is worthy of hours of praise in itself. I seriously have no idea how they made them, but they look incredible.

I must admit that the hats (made by the famous Phillip Treacy) were a bit much for me...but when you understand that they were inspired by Japanese robots it makes sense. The hats and the colorful appliques both have a kind of spacey/samurai look to them.

All in all, this collection totally blew me away. All of these pieces are works of art--hand crafted by a true artist.

These two dresses with the green appliques are my favorites. The birds embroidered on it are so gorgeous and the whole dress just flows effortlessly.

Seriously, my mind is STILL blown every time I look at one of these dresses. It is absolutely insane.

Pretty amazing what you can do with fabric, isn't it? To anyone who says fashion isn't art, I say, f you, and look at this.

Salt in the F-ing Wound

I don't even know why I'm writing this. This is like the most emotionally and spiritually masochistic thing I could ever do. And yet, here I am--still typing. Still pouring the most amazing musical salt on my artistically starved wound....yep, pretty sure that makes no sense, but it does to me somehow.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH Coachella!!! We belong together!! Why are you so far away and so GD expensive!! I'd have to sell a kidney and three of my unborn children to come see you!! Why do you torment me so??? :[''''''''''''''''''

You might be wondering, is it even possible for this much musical talent to converge into one place for one gigantic utopia of harmonic bliss? YES, my friend. Yes, it is. I thought it was too good to be true, also. But nay, this is heaven on Earth. It is the musical Mt. Olympus.

I mean it wasn't enough that the Glastonbury music festival was going on WHILE I was in the UK. Now that I'm in Cali, SO close to Coachella, I have to stay here and sulk, wishing that either teleportation existed so I could just zap in there and enjoy the show for free, or that I become a millionaire and/or find a sugar daddy with very good musical taste.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I WILL go to Coachella sometime in the very near future. And it shall be glorious.
