Bobbin'

(Photo by my amazing friend and incredible photographer Marcus Meisler)

If you know me, you know that I am the worst hair-grower-outer ever. It was over two years ago that I chopped ALL my hair off. And after all that time, I'm only at a bob. It's just so hard! I don't know what it is. I guess it's that awful in-between stage I can't stand. At any rate, I have cut my hair yet again in a fever of 20's passion.

I was mainly inspired by the amazing Louise Brooks, with a little bit of Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction.

Louise Brooks, besides being a total BAMF, silent film actress, model, dancer AND showgirl, she made the adorable bob that we associate with flappers and the 20's.

Sidenote: I have a cloche almost identical to the one in this pic and I feel so freaking awesome knowing that Louise had one just like mine! :D

This is a french actress from the 40's who also channeled Louise's look. Yeah, I know. She's a fox.

This cut is really awesome because it draws attention to your eyes and your cheekbones. I find it really slimming to your face. Plus, I just think it is so chic.

There is just something incredibly sexy about it. I mean, honestly, it kind of looks like a little girl's haircut. But the sharpness and shortness of it just has a real sex appeal to it that I adore.

I LOVE this dress. I designed one today inspired by this one.

(whistle whistle!)

Maybe SOME day finally in the future, I will have long hair again. But for now, I am bobbin' it. Since I have it, I've been really inspired to dress 20's lately. So here is my 20's homage to you, Louise Brooks, and one of my favorite eras of fashion.

  1. Gah! I used to always want a bob... unfortunately I've never had the correct hair for it... you, however, look great with one!!! You look totally twenties in that picture you posted and I love it! Great Gatsby all the way! :)
